Hey people and fellow devs,

Recently, I contacted almost every gaming channel in China and Japan via email with a short pitch. One of them was the Japanese outlet Denfaminicogamer, who made a post on X about my game WinHack 95 and its demo, including a link to the Steam page. Since then, I have seen a huge wishlist boost. You can see the post here on X: Denfaminico Gamer X post

The email I sent to all press contacts was pretty simple. I started with a short introduction of myself as the developer and mentioned where I am from. Then I briefly introduced the game demo in about four lines, mentioned when I plan to release the full version, and included links to the Steam page and the trailers on YouTube in English, Japanese, and Chinese.

I also added a link to my press kit on Google Drive, which contains the trailers, Steam capsules, screenshots, and general information about the game. Everything was in English.

To finish the email, I simply said that if they think the game would fit their community, they are welcome to cover me and my game.

If you want also want to try this an really important advice: Dont use the same text in every email otherwise (so no copy paste) or google will mark you as spam and you mail lands in the spam folder of your target. Alternate some wording , even in the title.

I used the strategy from u/igeolwen, who posted his approach here on r/IndieDev a few days ago, so thanks again for that! In addition to his contacts, I also searched for some press contacts in China, and people there posted about the game as well.

If anyone is interested, I can also share the contacts I found, although it was only around 3 or 4.

Edit 1:

Iwas developing a hacker game that transports the feeling of the 90s

Over a huge amount of time i was developing a hacker game that transports the feeling of the 90s together with hacking and idle-clicking mechanics. Maybe someone is interested in this personal, passionate project? Its name is WinHack 95.

Basically you build a malware empire on a simulated 90s PC by coding viruses, automating processes, and completing illegal darknet contracts to fund a mysterious organization.

For anyone who is intereseted, here is the link to the demo: WinHack 95 Demo on Steam
