This bamboo was planted in 2012. According to the receipt from the landscaper, it is either Giant Timber Bamboo or Punting Pole Bamboo, it’s been too long for me to remember which is which. We lost all of our bamboo after a drastic freeze (for zone 9) in 2021. This and another clump began to grow back two years later and has been doing well up until about 9 months ago when the tips on some canes started dying and falling off. sometimes this happens early, as in this photo. Other times it has happened after the cane is 12 or more feet tall. Below the dead tip, the canes remain healthy and sometimes produce a large branch that exceeds the height of the cane. Any idea on why I am losing the tips?
