Let’s say I only have Ezreal prodigy or Lunar Boon in hand. I play that card, and now I have to discard and then draw. Since i can’t discard anything, can I still play either of these cards?

How I read them, because of the word “then” on both of these cards, i can’t play them. The only situation i can ignore discarding is if the card says something like “discard one and draw 2”. I would like to get some clarification though. Thank you!
