Debunking “Ancient Israel”

Debunking “Ancient Israel”

While this is GDF, not a strict Bible scholar and the topic is something others wrote about better

It does touch on the fact that Israel, as secular, humanist society, does use a holy book and archeology, for the justification of their state.

Might be a little meta, but why there is this silence surrounding a genocide. While of course societies should be not political in general, it is normal for historical societies to call out bad behaviour that pertains there area of study.

One would expect that a society that study France, would make a statement if a genocide in France was to be committed.

Yet, in Gaza, Israeli state have been declare to make a genocide by genocide scholars inside and outside Israel, yet, they are surprisingly quiet in Bible societies as Israeli state use Bible imaginary to justify the genocide.

I could only find society of biblical literature concern about Gaza in 2023, which was meet by derision.

But is strange how a field that regularly talk as a cautionary tale about using the Bible for marginalization of LGBTQ+ voices, biblical justification for slavery and racism, but clearly ignore a genocide that has very strong scholaricide, which include Bible scholars and theologians.

From time to time i found myself reading the Academic Biblical sub, where i found that people use the word "apologetics" almost like an insult.

I do not know what specifically "Apologetics" is, yet going by the wikipedia definition, it seems to be fairly innocuous defense of Christianity.

I do understand that a neutral reading of the text require not trying to put any biases inside your reading (Even if that is possible), yet it still call my attention why is apologetics such a hated word.

Might be the dynamics of that particular subreddit.

The other day i was checking dumb phones, thinking about using one, only to find a post about people leaving social media only to spend most time using Reddit, as a joke.

Leaving aside the obvious implication than Reddit is a social media, it is funny how people using a social media would believe that other social media are way worse. Redditors believe that Instagram and Twitter is full of influencers, nazis, whatever. While in Instagram, people believe that Reddit is full of midwits, incels, posers, haters, where they drive a woman to suicide.

I would mean, it is all truth, but there is awful in every social media and you are not deluded yourself for using other.
