Desperately need help, team

Location: Nashville, TN

Just bought a house and inherited quite the lawn project and have never been in this position before. Honestly not looking for an Augusta national type of renovation but I want GRASS, not this Jurassic park/third world trailer park jungle. I’ve been casually mowing for a couple weeks now, and applying post emergent to the big weeds/crab grass recently. Too scared to do anything bigger out of pure fear. And advice on how to tackle this is appreciated. Feel like I’m in a tough time of the year as well with the summer heat slowing approaching.
