Struggling with Slavic/Eastern European boy names
Hello I am currently pregnant with my first baby boy and I am really struggling with boy names. My husband and I are both Eastern European (Belarusian and Ukranian, I was born in Belarus) so we are leaning towards Slavic names. However we live in Canada, so English/Canadian pronunciation will play a role in the name.
The problem is I am quite picky, there are alot of names I won't use due to living family having those names (Oleg, Dimitri, Anton, Andrei, Atrem, Misha, Yevgeni, Victor, Bogdan, Yuri, and probably others I can't think of). I love Alexei and the nick names for it like Lyosha and Sasha but I also know 1 million people name Alex so I feel that is off the list for that reason.
The names I like so far are Ivan, Vladislav, and Fyodor. What I'm worried about is Vladislav can sound kind of intense. Fyodor, although I love, I can't imagine a Canadian person pronouncing it in a way that doesn't sound odd. Ivan is super cute, but I feel like I would always be correcting people as I don't like the English pronunciation of "eye-vin" and would want it to be "ee-vahn"
Sorry for the ramble, I am looking for advice on the names I do like, and suggestions for others that I haven't thought of that would go well in an English speaking setting.
