I am aware this uses something different that a typical Dexterity save for dealing damage, and that is what I wanted to discuss.

One little issues I have with spells that make an enemy target make a Save on your effect is if the effect hits multiple targets, or can do so, well it slows the game down a bit, as such for this I tried a different manner, a more defined method that makes it kinda absolute.

I also had an idea that each turn while this is up, you roll a D20 and add just your Spell Casting Modifier, and note that score, this turn the orb has that score for any attempt it makes to damage targets.

What say you all? Is this method of determining damage too out of step with 5E? Can it be okay for a small spell here or there?

Thank you for your time.

All love to all classes, this just meant as a joke.

And yes we are missing the moment of the wizard spining three full rotations in the air as he is hit.
