I was accepted into medical school in January and am set to graduate with my BS this May. However, I’m currently in the middle of finals week and I’m concerned that my final grades might not meet the minimum pre-requisite GPA requirements for my matriculation.
My final transcripts are due in July. To ensure I meet the GPA threshold in time, I am considering retaking one of my pre-requisite courses through StraighterLine so I can submit an updated grade before the deadline.
My specific questions are:
- Accreditation: StraighterLine is ACE-accredited, but not an accredited degree-granting institution. What does this mean in the eyes of DO admissions? It's just one course I'm taking :/
- Acceptance: I spoke with my med school’s Associate Director of Admissions and they said it "should be okay," but I’ve heard many medical schools do not accept StraighterLine credits so this is kinda confusing. I hope they stick to their word but I don't wanna pay a lot of money, take the course, and get it rejected and thus rejected out of my acceptance.
Has anyone here successfully used StraighterLine to satisfy a pre-requisite for a school they were already accepted to? Any advice on how to handle this with the registrar or admissions office would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!
