Canvas Cyberattack
I have heard from a couple of places that there was a nationwide ransomware-style attack on Instructure (Canvas’s parent company) by the group ShinyHunters. It caused a major outage on May 7–8, 2026, right in the middle of finals week for many schools.
The platform was taken offline and showed ransom messages for some users. It was restored for most users by late May 8 or early May 9.
Did anyone have difficulties with their final exams based on this hack?
