I Accidentally Ended Up Working in Public Health… Now I Want to Pursue It Seriously
I’m looking for guidance on affordable online Master’s programs in Public Health Administration / Healthcare Administration, preferably from Asia or internationally recognized universities that are friendly for students based in Pakistan.
A bit about my background:
- I completed my BBA (Hons) in 2018
- Started my career in digital marketing
- Later transitioned into the NGO sector, working in public health and education
In my most recent role, I worked as a Senior Manager Marketing & Communications, but my responsibilities extended far beyond marketing. I got exposure to healthcare operations and found myself genuinely interested in that side of the work.
Some of the things I’ve worked on:
- Managing marketing and communications operations
- Supporting operations of healthcare centers
- Assisting in construction and setup of Basic Healthcare Units (BHUs)
- Government negotiations and partnerships
- Drafting partnership and operational documentation
- Participating in meetings with government officials and stakeholders
- Coordination related to healthcare projects and implementation
Over time, I realized I’m much more drawn toward healthcare systems, administration, public health operations, and policy-related work than pure marketing.
Now I’m considering pursuing a Master’s in:
- Healthcare Administration (MHA)
- Public Health Administration
- MPH with healthcare management focus
My priorities are:
- Online or low-residency
- Affordable / good ROI
- Recognized and credible university
- Preferably Asia-based, though open to other regions if cost-effective
Would really appreciate:
- University recommendations with applications still open around this time of year
- Scholarship or affordable options for international students
- Any insights from people who transitioned from business/marketing into healthcare administration
Thank you!
