Question about 4xe battery/electric mode
I have a 2024 rubicon 4xe.
The other day, while driving in hybrid mode the motor wasn’t on and it was only electric. I went to accelerate- not a lot - and it just felt like the battery had no power, the dial for battery use that goes from 0-100 maybe got to about 30-40 and then the motor immediately kicked in.
It surprised me.
So, to test it further I switch from hybrid to all electric mode (the battery was also completely charged up). Then did the same thing: Accelerated and it got maybe to about 50 on that dial, struggled and then switch to motor - this was the first time I’ve ever had it in all electric mode where the vehicle still switch to use the ICE motor.
The other thing I’ve noticed: I live on a hill and have to climb up off it for the first two blocks to the main road. When I first got the car, in hybrid mode it would usually stay in full electric and not turn on the ICE motor in those two short blocks driving up hill. Now it seems to always switch and start up the ICE motor in that climb.
There is no check engine type warnings on at all on the dash.
So I’m just a little concerned and curious - is my battery power output degraded? If so what would cause this? Is there a way to check? Did jeep maybe do some update I’m not aware of that would intentionally use less battery before switching to ICE motor?
