I wasn't a heavy drinker, but I had a nightly ritual of a glass of red wine while cooking dinner. It was relaxing to me and it became a habit. But after being three months into semaglutide, I noticed the wine bottle in my cabinet had dust on it. I poured a glass last week, took two sips, and poured it out. It didn't taste good anymore and more importantly, I didn't want it.

I've read about the addiction studies since GLP-1s are being investigated for alcohol use disorder, smoking cessation, even opioid cravings. The proposed mechanism is the same as food noise: quieting the brain's reward circuitry and I think that’s insane and I’m happy it does.

So my folks live down in Florida where basically everyone struggles with their weight as they get older. I got my dad (62) started on reta first and his progress has been crazy. He went from 2mg up to 6mg and already dropped from 280lbs down to 225. All his bloodwork is looking great and his regular doctor is like completely blown away.

But my mom (65) is a completely different story... she takes the exact same 6mg dose from the exact same vials but literally nothing is happening. She is still stuck right at 245lbs and Im totally stumped. I am wondering if I should just switch her over to tirz, or maybe even have her run both at the same time? Is it actually safe to stack them for someone her age? If I do end up changing her plan, I am going to need to look into sourcing a much bigger kit to keep up with both of their doses. Or do I just up her dose and get a bigger kit once she finishes the current one? Or what, like what should I do here. I’d like any insight.
