As an anime only, VERY HONEST question: what exactly about this series appeals to you guys?

I get the wholesome romance aspect, but it's definitely not like your typical romance(-coms) titles. This one is more slow, mellow, subtle, realistic.... Abit mundane(?) in a sense that I'm kind of unsure whether good or bad.

I also get the impression that it's very deep. I understand enough to know from the cinematic elements that the words being said do not merely carry what they mean at face value. But that's all I can perceive. I have no idea what exactly lies under the surface.

Sometimes I feel like my brain is too small to appreciate this series; Especially when so many people talk highly of it. Im just asking this question hoping to at least have a better idea on where to look / how to appreciate the material.

...and Saki definitely top 3 prettiest anime characters of all time
