I have a two month vacation before my second year starts, and I want to know where should I focus on now.

I also want advice regarding the below point:

I have come to know that Mechanical students don't get that many opportunities in core sectors here as well. I knew about Tech having branch barriers, of course (and for Finance, it seems Dualites are preferred). I wanted to go into Core, but now it seems difficult. Furthermore, I don't know what to think of pursuing an MS after paying the high fees for BITS.
