I’ve been getting increasingly interested in serve toss consistency and started looking at my own serve videos frame-by-frame.

One thing I’m curious about:

How much of toss placement into the court is considered “technical” vs just personal style/preference?

For example, some players seem to toss much farther into the court than others. Is there a generally accepted ideal range, or does it depend heavily on mechanics/body type/serve style?

Also curious whether anyone has seen serious analysis of toss consistency for pro players (Federer especially comes to mind).
