Spent the last year building PhishGuard, a free browser extension that catches phishing emails in real time as you read them. Works in Gmail, Outlook, and a few European webmail providers.
What it does:
- Reads each email when opened
- Runs ~80 detection heuristics (lookalike domains, brand impersonation, fake login pages, multilingual scam patterns)
- Shows a sidebar with verdict + reasoning in plain language
- Works in EN/NL/FR/DE/ES
Free forever. There's a Pro tier for AI analysis + VirusTotal link scanning, but the free version covers the majority of phishing.
Looking for users to break it and tell me what scams it misses or what it falsely flags. Bug reports very welcome.
