I have had a hard lump beneath my nipple for 6+ months. It is the size of a walnut but not round. I was putting off having it looked at for a long time, stupid, I know. It didn't hurt at first. Now, the lump hurts all the time, it never stops, but the entire two weeks before my period it hurts sooo bad. It burns and sometimes throbs and is so tender. I can feel the exact day when I ovulate because the lump starts raging right away. The past three weeks it has gotten itchy, the itchiness sometimes goes up to my armpit. I have one lymph node on the same side on my collarbone/neck area that has been bigger for a while, but not painful. My lump feels attached to the skin, not easy to move around.

I saw my doctor who referred me to a gyno right away. She did an ultrasound and said there was no lump she could see. She didn't really feel my lump with her hands, just the upper boobs. She said I have really big milk ducts on that side, like I was always this way and nothing caused it. She didn't scan the other side. She said she guesses I have low progesterone, this is causing the pain and only on one side because my ducts are bigger and therefore need more of the hormone or they get angry? It doesn't really explain the hard lump?

I was given a hormone cream to put on for certain parts of the my cycle. The pain is still there and idk if I am feeling placebo effects from the extremely low dose.

I have also been considering getting my thyroid tested for other, easily brushed off symptoms. I will be doing this this week. Maybe it is just a thyroid problem causing low progesterone, causing the painful lump? I felt relieved at first, but there is a very long waitlist to get in to see another gyno, and I worry that the lump is festering unnoticed. Has anyone heard of this before, why so many overlapping cancer symptoms?
