Marble vs granite vs newer surfaces

I was in the process of constructing a new home recently, and I ended up going down the rabbit hole of stones and materials to use.

After seeing the comparison between marble and granite, as well as the engineered stones, I understood that the difference is not only in the maintenance but also in the overall look and feel. Granite is much more functional and suitable for heavy-duty use, whereas marble gives a softer look due to its veining. Engineered stones are easier to maintain, but they tend to have a more uniform look.

It was quite surprising to see that designer showrooms such as The Quarry have marble used more as a feature piece, like statement walls or kitchen islands, rather than just flooring. This completely changes the way you compare the material.
