Kamen rider toybox update 3: the characters!
I've had fun giving Toybox a starting arsenal, but I think it's time we put a face to the name! Say hello to Hina Kirahoshi!
You're standard working woman in Japan, Hina's life has been.. rather difficult as of late. Her parents died in a car cash a few years ago, causing her to need to drop out of university to take care of her little sister. It's been rough, and she's given up a lot.
At her core, Hina is a person who cares. There have been plenty of opportunities for her to prioritize herself and her own gain, but she never really takes it. Peter Parker syndrome, ya know? Only if Peter Parker had to take care of a rambunctious 8 year old. Speaking of:
Anna is a little ball of energy who makes Hina's life more complicated. Given this whole hypothetical kamen rider season is based on toys, it felt necessary to have an actual child in the main cast.
Id best describe Hina and Anna as akin to Nani and Lilo from lilo and stitch. Their situation sucks, and they're trying their best to keep going while driving eachother crazy on accident. Even as toys begin to spring to life and attack people!
And finally for today is the man we have to thank for all this nonsense, Dr. Kenichi Carlo! He's a genius engineer and toy maker who established a very successful company, Starfall Toys! Unfortunately for him the company got bought out back in 05, so he's been working out of a smaller toy shop these days. He was never the kinda man to retire.
Almost 50 years ago, Dr. Carlo came across a miraculous substance that could revolutionize the world. He called it "Stardust" because it literally fell from the sky.
Initially, he had only planned to use it to make environmentally friendly batteries for his toys... little did he know Stardust did a lot more than power toys. It somehow imbued them with *life.* and the first to come to life... didn't go well.
Dr. Carlo lost most of his Stardust supply soon after, thinking it destroyed. Until he heard tell of random incidents of toys coming to life and attacking people... he knew it had to be related, and he immediately got to work on a solution! The toybox driver!
Unfortunately, it's not smart to go gallevanting as a Kamen rider when you're pushing 70. He threw out his back the first time he tried to henshin!
Thankfully, Hina Kirahoshi was in the right place at the right time, and Kamen rider Toybox was born!
These three would be our core cast of good guys, at least until the secondary rider shows up~! But that's for another day!
