After years of being out and about in San Diego almost every day, this is still my favorite way to start the day:

Early morning along the coast, before things get crowded
Walking around La Jolla while it’s still quiet
Coffee somewhere low key, not one of the packed spots
Watching the ocean for a bit instead of rushing off to the next thing

That’s it. Nothing complicated.

People try to pack too much into their trips here, but honestly, this city is at its best when you slow it down a bit.
