Hi fellow nipple enthusiasts,

I've been using Thinkpads for a while (T480s, T495, E495, P1 Gen2) -- but only using a Thunderbolt dock with the P1 Gen2.

My P1 Thunderbolt ports have recently shit themselves (bought it second-hand, as I have all the others) -- now the dock is unusable.

I'm irritable that my relatively high-spec'ed laptop is now relegated to being a server rather than a desktop.

How common is this with newer Thinkpads? If the ports are going to die after the warranty expires, I'd consider moving to a Dell XPS or similar despite the fact that use of the trackpoint is baked deeply into my laptop ergonomics.
