I was born with a discoid lateral meniscus on my left knee and had surgery at 13 to deal with a bucket handle tear where a large chunk of my meniscus was removed. Things have caught up with me and my recent MRI has shown a complex tear of the lateral meniscus, full thickness cartilage loss down to the bone in that same area.

My doctor is seriously concerned, particularly about the cartilage damage. Day to day I'm struggling with lateral knee pain, and standing and walking for long periods is painful.

Has anyone been through something similar, especially if you're around 28? What treatment did you get and how is it going?
