New cat scared/old cat starting fights
Hi! My husband and I don’t know what to do.
He’s had his cat since a kitten so about 7-8 years ago. He’s been in homes with other cats and had some territorial/bully tendencies, it was never serious (from what I’ve been told).
When he moved in a year & a half ago, his cat came along too. I’m a dog person. I had and have 2 dogs. Rambo (his cat) never adjusted. He didn’t walk by the kennels or anything.
Well, we thought getting another cat would help. And it did! All animals are acclimated and coexist (with supervision. They each have their own space when we’re not home). The cat we brought home was about a year old. Sweet as apple pie. They got along great for like 6 months.
That’s when things changed. He thinks it started as a territorial thing. Well it scared the absolute hell out of the new cat. She’s 8 pounds while Rambo is 22 pounds. Now he will sneak attack her sometimes or he’ll be near and she won’t notice him and will scream. Same goes for if he goes into her room. Other times they’ll get real close for a sniff and be totally fine.
The weirder? part is the altercations happen around 3:30 in the afternoon or later in the evening. Idk how to help. Any advice?
