AWS ap-southeast-2 is blocking my Fiji based IP
Since January, I have been provisioning instances for various reasons such as personal projects or coursework. About a month ago, I noticed I wasnt able to connect via SSH from my home here in Fiji. At the time I thought there was an issue with my keypair and went about my business via SSM. Today, I needed to use SCP to move some files, but I could not get SSH to work. ICMP worked fine so I knew I was reaching the instance. Eventually, my wife suggested trying the VPN, so lo and behold, it started working!
I have never seen AWS block SSH in this manner unless there was evidence of abuse, but I've not done anything out of the ordinary.
Tomorrow, I will try an instance in a US region to see if its only the Australia network blocking me. If US doesn't block me, I will try forcing my IP to change and try ap-southeast-2 again.
