Nemo Tensor Elite and Mountain Spring Y55 Review
Just writing to share that I just returned from a 22 night trip to the Cedar Mesa region of SE Utah, and used some new-to-me equipment. Notably the Tensor Elite in Reg/Wide (10.5 oz/298g, verified) and the Mountain Spring Y55 (3.9oz/111g, verified).
I slept out most nights due to fair weather, using a polyro groundsheet between the pads and the slickrock. I managed to camp/sleep on slickrock each night, as is my distinct preference in that part of the desert for a variety of reasons, but also to minimize pokey/spikey bits. On the 3-4? nights I slept inside, it was under a floorless mid.
The Y55 was nice, roughy 1oz heavier than my GG Thinlight (older model) but also the full length of the pad, which may be why I had no issues with abrasion/holes/tears in the Tensor (I used the foam beneath). Temps occasionally got down to just below freezing (we had 3 rounds of snow while I was out) and the Tensor did fine in my estimation, a bit cold on the coldest nights but when I was well fed and my other gear was dry, I did just fine and didn't feel like I was losing any heat to the ground.
I'd rate the Y55 highly in terms of durability as well, and it raises me off the ground a bit higher than a folded thinlight for cooking/as a sit pad. No issues yet with the accordion hinges splitting or separating.
Will these hold up longer term? Remains to be seen, but so far so good.
