I need a campaign motivation
Reeni, Alvar and Guinevere, GO AWAY.
I've got a campaign set on a previously uncharted island. It might as well be that my players have discovered Atlantis or El Dorado etc. Lots of myths and stories to discover.
The problem is, when we started the campaign, the goal was discovery. Find ancient artifacts, discover what they mean to tribes that inhabit the island etc. This isn't really landing as a campaign-driving concept. I need something with a bit more of a STATEMENT of a long term objective.
There's a rival faction of adventurers, and they're bad people. The party know these nasties aren't above violence and theft to get what they want. But that still doesn't seem to be enough to really build a campaign around.
The setting is loosely inspired by Polynesian cultures, but there's a blend of other bits and pieces too.
I've been playing for years, and ran a few different styles of campaign without too many issues, but for some reason I just can't find something to really motivate my PC's (the players themselves are lovely and not the problem).
If anyone has any suggestions or questions that might spawn further ideas, please let me know. I've got a few weeks to work on and rejig things
