Hi everyone, I’m 40 and have category D/extremely dense breasts. During a routine physical, my doctor found a small lump in my right breast just above the nipple area. I had a mammogram with an ultrasound about a week later in early March. The report came back BI-RADS 2, with fibrocystic change, and I was told to return for routine screening in one year.
I've never had any breast pain before the mammogram/ultrasound, aside from normal tenderness before my period. But ever since the imaging, I’ve had lingering discomfort/soreness in the same breast. It’s not where the lump is. It’s higher up, more on/above the upper breast/chest wall area. It comes in waves and isn’t constant, but I feel it every day.
I did mention it to my doctor last week, and she didn’t seem concerned because the imaging was benign.
I’m just wondering: has anyone else had lingering soreness or chest-wall/upper-breast discomfort for this long after a mammogram/ultrasound? Especially with very dense/fibrocystic breasts?
