In August 2025 I left Spotify for TIDAL. I enjoyed some stuff, but I really have to say there are certain things that are just insanely pissing me off.
The desktop app is garbage. If you don't use TIDALuna as a modded client, you will run into the following problems:
- Audio stops completely around 80-85% into a song
- Songs are buffering like hell
- The app is unresponsive as fuck
And even if you are using the modded client, you still have issues. NICE!
But hey, let's just push a UI update that is similar to Liquid Glass on Apple devices instead of fixing the desktop app, which is pure Electron bullshit by the way, and still has a lot of issues.
Same goes for the Android app. Why the hell are song downloads so insanely slow on a fast home connection? And no, the connection is NOT my problem (why does spotify download the songs fast then!?)
Another problem: I wanted to delete my account, but I can't, because I don't receive the verification code to my own email server. This is not great!
I opened a support ticket to delete my account and received the email immediately, great!
I really wanted to like TIDAL, but the app issues etc. made me switch back to Spotify.
If anyone of the dev team reads this (even if its very unlikely) then please listen to what some people are saying and apply fixes. I am not paying 10.99 for a broken app.
Also : This is my experience. If everything runs great for you, don't even comment. If you experience the same problems like me, then feel free to comment. Don't defend TIDAL or Spotify, both have their strenghts and weaks.
