I work full-time as a project manager in a decent-paying job that I currently don’t mind, but I sometimes worry about job security or long-term burnout.

I enjoy going to the gym and I’ve been thinking about doing my Personal Training qualifications as a backup option.

My thinking is:

I wouldn’t necessarily use it straight away

It would just be something I could fall back on if I ever lost my job or wanted a change

Or potentially do part-time alongside my main job

I’ve read mixed things about PT careers (self-employed, rent to gyms, unstable income, etc.), so I’m not planning to switch careers immediately — more just getting qualified for optionality.

Is this a sensible idea, or am I overthinking / wasting time and money on it?

Would appreciate honest opinions, especially from people in fitness or who’ve done similar career backups.

I enjoy going to the gym (have done for years) and I’ve been thinking about doing my Level 2 Gym Instructor and Level 3 Personal Training qualifications as a backup option. I am is great shape and 25M.
