This is my second pregnancy and I naively thought it would be easier. Around 7.5 weeks I started taking 4mg zofran and famotidine in AM and a half tab unisom at night. This was very effective. This time around I didn’t wait to start vomiting to medicate. Typically by the time I am vomiting it takes days for me to recover and without medication I’m not sure how bad it would get. I work full time and do not have PTO saved up and also have a toddler…I just can’t afford to be non-functional.
Since around 10 weeks I switched to omeprazole and 4mg zofran in the AM, 10 mg diclegis around lunchtime and then another diclegis around 9 pm. Evening are the worst. I am still nauseous throughout the day but I can eat and go to work and be somewhat present for my toddler. I tried to take another zofran instead of diclegis in the afternoon but it did nothing for me. Diclegis seems to help a little but not much more.
I am currently 14w and have not noticed my symptoms decrease. It’s really starting to get to me mentally. I’m falling behind at work and at home and I am just SO exhausted. I am so grateful that I have been able to manage the vomiting and that I can eat and that this hasn’t escalated to HG….i was just hoping to have more relief by now. This feels impossible and at this point my lack of productivity is starting to catch up with me/not sure how much longer I can carry on before this becomes a big problem.
Anything meds wise that are different that worked for you? I think the GERD is worsening my nausea in the evenings. I just lie in bed for hours playing that “should I run to the bathroom and puke” game. Any other advice for managing it all as a working mom who can’t outsource and doesn’t have family close by?
I am in the rural US. Please don’t suggest ginger or tea or eating every few hours. I’ve tried all that.
