2024 Levo battery issue (maybe?)

Me again, with a different question about a different Levo! (Partner and I both have Levos and they both started acting up this past month)

This issue is that the bike just completely cuts out occasionally, loses all power to TCU and motor. Sometimes mid ride, sometimes after a break it won’t switch back on. He has to unplug the battery a few times and it’ll switch on and off and on and off until eventually it’ll stay on for a while. Other times he can do a full day with no issues.

LBS reckoned it was the harness so they replaced that. I’m certain it’s not the harness because we sometimes swap batteries and twice when his battery has been in my Levo the problem has happened on mine (but only with his battery). We have never had any issues charging the battery, and when it was in the shop the mechanic plugged the battery into his laptop and said it was all coming back basically perfect.

Since replacing the harness the fault is pretty much the same except now a warning message briefly flashes up on the screen before it cuts out.

Is this a faulty battery?

2025 Levo gen 3 - are these issues related?

Hello!

I bought my Levo the day it became available in the summer of 2024. I love it.

I have had no issues since then, until now… 1000 miles on the odometer.

About a month ago I took it for a ride, managed one climb and one downhill no issues, then stopped to take a layer off and have a snack. I didn’t turn the bike off but 5-10 mins later when I went to get going again it was showing an error message on the display, it said “check app” the app showed the error message in the photo.

I switched the bike off and on again, the error message on the TCU was cleared and the bike appeared to be working fine - display was normal. But when I pedalled I got no motor assist. The TCU was on as normal, I could switch between eco/trail/turbo but absolutely nothing from the motor. Obviously I tried switching the bike off and on again, unplugged battery, actually removed the battery, nothing changed. The TCU would switch on but the motor didn’t do anything. But Walk mode worked as normal. I assumed some sort of torque sensor failure?

The next day the bike worked like normal.

Took the bike to my local Spec dealer, the mechanic said probably a firmware issue. Not sure exactly what he did - updated the software? Not sure! But he was VERY confident it was “firmware”, and not a torque sensor issue.

Rode the bike a few times since, the error hasn’t repeated.

I went out this weekend and I felt that the power assist I was getting was inconsistent. Felt like there was no difference between eco and trail, but at other times I felt like I was putting zero effort into pedalling in trail and the bike was zooming along. Wasn’t sure if it was just me or it was actually happening. Then towards the end of the day with the bike in Trail mode it fully took off on its own, my feet not even on the pedals, the bike accelerated up to max speed before I put the brakes on. It carried on going despite me putting the brakes on. When it came to a stop (due to my braking) I jumped off and thought the motor had stopped and then when I took my fingers off the brakes the bike TOOK OFF and dragged me along.

Do you think this is related to the issue earlier in the month or two unrelated issues? I will be taking it back to the dealer of course but interested to know if this is a known fault/issue or if anyone has any ideas what it could be before I go.
