QuestTrade, why are you tax forms so horrendous? No conversion of USD to Canadian for tax reporting purposes. T5008 has no totals and only reports detailed transactions in US dollars. I have to spend hours to find daily exchange rates on the Bank of Canada website to them convert each transaction individually to Canadian dollars, to then calculate the totals that go into my tax return. Extremely tedious and frustrating.
For that reason alone, I’m moving all my non-registered accounts to Interactive Brokers. They produce beautiful reporting which I can plug directly into my tax return and be done with it. Saving me at least 10 hours worth of work.
Venting my frustrations, but if you want to keep non-registered account you should seriously look into the quality of your tax reporting.
