My 13-month-old daughter is very attached to her bottle.
We introduced a straw cup with water at 6 months, and while she doesn’t use it often, she can drink from it—so I know she has the skill.
I’ve read that:
- Whole milk shouldn’t be given in a bottle
- Formula should be stopped after age 1
I tested giving her whole milk in a bottle, and she drank it easily, which makes me think the bottle—not the milk—is the issue.
We’ve already reduced her intake from four 6 oz bottles a day to 1–2 (usually one at night and sometimes one in the morning if needed).
My question is: if she refuses milk from other cups and I still need to offer a bottle, should I use milk or formula? And how can we successfully transition away from the bottle?
This is a transition hardly anyone talks about!! 🙆♀️
