I'm trying to configure the instance number on these modules and I understand I need a serial connection and the applicable software to modify the BACnet parameters (aside from the MAC address set by dip switch). I've got a serial to USB cable, Terraterm, and putty configured the way it's called out in the manual (19200 BAUD, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity or flow control). With both programs it seems like I'm able to connect, but pressing enter doesn't pull up the configuration menu. I've also had another tech try to no success.
Is there some key detail left out of the manual I'm missing? It specifies a "null modem serial crossover cable"; is it safe to assume that the serial cable we had on hand meets that requirement, or is it a harder to find type of serial cable?

EDIT: The other tech says he used a crossover. I ordered a new one just in case.
