Hey everyone, I’m a solo indie dev starting a brand new project, and I wanted to share the concept here to get some early feedback from real horror fans.

yes i have generated this image using ai , but this is my referance , my imagination , but i hope to make a game like this , i mean the graphics could be different from the pic , cause i am a indie developer but i will try to make it the best horror game experience ever

I feel like the indie horror scene is a bit saturated with western asylums and old cabins. But if you've ever walked down the corridors of an empty school after dark, you know that the heavy silence and stretching shadows give off a completely different, deeply terrifying vibe. So, I'm building a game around that exact feeling.

Here is the core concept:

  • The Atmosphere: Pitch-black shadows contrasting with cold, flickering neon-blue lights bleeding through the classroom windows. It's about feeling isolated.
  • The Gameplay: You are trapped and have to survive for 7 grueling days.
  • The Twist (No Jump Scares): I despise lazy jump scares. Instead, I'm focusing on pure paranoia by coding a sound-based AI attraction system. The enemy isn't just mindlessly wandering—it listens. If you sprint down a hall or accidentally step on broken glass in the dark, it hears you and hunts you down.

I'm building everything completely from scratch (just got the first enemy skeleton rigged today, and the software bugs were a nightmare). My ultimate goal is to make the player physically hold their breath while hiding under a desk, just listening to heavy footsteps outside the door.

I'll be documenting the whole messy development process on my YouTube channel (Cave Man Indie), but right now, I just want to ask the community: What is the absolute creepiest thing you can imagine experiencing in an empty school setting? I'd love to weave some of your ideas into the actual game!
