Looking for a bit of advice here. I have a gambling addiction, and have been in GA since November of 2022. In the past couple of months I have relapsed, and in that relapse took out a flurry of predatory loans. As it stands right now, each paycheck my bank account would be close to or below zero once all of the credits are taken out to go back to these loans.
I know I wouldn’t be able to file until at least 90 days after the most recent loan was taken. I also can’t last 90 days on essentially no income, with rent/bill/cost of living expenses being evaporated every payday. My fiancé is opening an account in her name where my paychecks will go to, to ensure that she controls it and it goes towards bills it’s supposed to.
Would that eliminate me from bankruptcy consideration? I would obviously include those bank statements and explain the reasoning behind it. If I file, it needs to be before we’re married so she isn’t dragged down with it. Is this a possibility? Or will I have to handle these debts down the road as they go into collections etc.
Thanks for any advice, and believe me, nobody is more aware how much of a mess I’ve created and how horrible I’m capable of being with money - hence control of it being taken away from me.
