My nails are somewhat brittle, they're prone to ridges and Beaus lines. Is there a good basecoat that can fill it in? Should I stick with press-ons? I really can't do gel, I noticed a lot of irritation after using the lamp last time.

I just don't have a ton of time to go for manicures. I work full-time and have a child with special needs--at the same time I want my nails to look halfway decent.
