I was thinking about ash and serenas reunion on pokemon journeys, and as long as its not what people expected, it was impossible for the writers to actually bring back ash and serena interacting for a whole episode due to journeys style, which was much more childish than xy-xy, addressing the romance between these 2 was literally impossible. But at least, we got a reaffirmation that amourshipping is canon, because that green light at the dock is not coincidence, its a clear symbol of hope and chasing the dreams that ash and serena were chasing thanks to each other, which is a pretty good reference for a show that cant address more adult like topics. For this reason i believe the writers did the best they could, and their reunion was actually perfect. Even though i hope they have another reunion in a more mature series like xy once was 🙌
