Hey, Bratz Pack. Surely, by now, we’ve all been spiraling about the DMCA (?)/ Copyright infringement concerns in this subreddit.
What made this subreddit sooo fun was the anticipation of a new leak coming down the line ahead of official merchandise photos AND being able to speculate as a community of people with a passion for fashion. So, when we were notified that leaks were not going to be allowed on here anymore, most of us were gutted.
Me? I kept wondering ‘why’. (And I was growing antsy)
It wasn’t until the Bratz IG teaser for Sassy Stampede the other day, followed by the official announcement yesterday, and then today’s release that I understood. MGAE or whatever entity wanted to condition us to shift our focus for new product announcements to their owned social platforms. To move our chatter and desires back over to IG for whatever reason(s) (could be to boost engagement and metrics on their social posts, idk). To control the narrative around the drops.
I think there’s an implementation of a new social/ marketing strategy going on where we are now going to look for Easter eggs and new product announcements there. The first sign of this strategy was probably last year’s Scorchin’ music video where the fashion pixies reimagined looks were revealed and we spent months speculating. Then there was the Yasmin Super Bloomin’ video from earlier this week where we saw her (likely) 2001/25th anniversary reimagined look, plus more(?)
If this is true, I totally understand but I don’t love it. If the intention is to have us move our chatter over to their IG, I just want to know that our voices as ACTUAL buyers and collectors are heard. I can only assume that they watch this subreddit, but are they LISTENING to improve the product to meet consumer demand and wishes? Or have they sought to silence us? Idk. I’m still speculating here.
