5th grade teacher, I have a student who had been and may continue self harming. The student has been gone for a few days in the hospital. Coming back, the students parent told me the student must stay away from sharp objects and to try and have them not accessible.

Without outing the student, how to I just all the sudden take away the scissors, pencil sharpeners, thumb tacks off walls, etc. ? The parent is very supportive and understands this is a huge ask and won’t happen overnight. Any ideas? We use scissors almost daily for vocab sheets or projects. My school also has about 3 weeks left.
