Hi all, just looking for some advice/reassurance about an ENT referral situation.

I was referred by my GP in November 2025 and had been on the waiting list for an NHS hospital (Burton). I also had an MRI in December as part of the same issue.

Recently, I was contacted by CHEC (independent provider) and invited to book an appointment, but the only locations offered are quite far away (around a 100+ mile round trip), which isn’t manageable for me due to my symptoms.

At the same time, my referral and waiting list have disappeared from the NHS app, and it now says I’m not on any waiting list or have any referrals showing.

I’ve asked CHEC to return the referral and plan to contact my GP to be referred locally again.

My questions are:

  • Is this normal when a referral is transferred to CHEC?
  • Will I lose my original waiting time, or should it carry over from my original referral date?
  • Has anyone else had their referral “disappear” from the NHS app like this?

Thanks in advance — just trying to understand how this usually works.
