I’m posting this as a massive "heads-up" to anyone selling on Facebook Marketplace.

I was targeted today by a guy who seemed genuine. He came to my house, took the item, and used a fake payment trick (likely a mock banking app) to "prove" he’d sent the money. Like a fool, I trusted him and let him walk away. The money never arrived, and I’ve been blocked.

I have his photo, his real name, and his likely address. I am heading to the Gardaí on Saturday with all this evidence to lodge a formal complaint for theft and deception. (probably just a waste of my time)

Lessons for everyone else:

  • CASH IS KING: Never, ever hand over an item unless you have physical cash in your hand.
  • Verify Transfers: If they use Revolut or a bank app, do not let them leave until the money shows as "Received" on your own screen. Do not trust their phone screen.

If you are selling electronics or high-value items in Dublin right now and want to make sure you aren't dealing with this same individual, feel free to DM me and F**k you E*die Mong*n.
