Clutch free play - is this normal?

Just installed a short clutch lever and I'm trying to set the clutch free play properly. I noticed that the lever doesn't fully return to the perch when I release it.

Is that normal or do I need to adjust something?

Would have cross posted from /r/ninja650 but apparently I can't do that.

Ninja 650, 2020.

Having a nightmare with this and can't find any instructions that make sense.

Top left is the oem bar end.
Top right is the assembled evotech bar end.
Bottom half is an exploded view / disassembled evotech bar end.

There are also two rings that were in the box, don't know where they go, unsure if they're part of the bar ends or the brake/clutch lever set I ordered as well.

https://evotech-performance.com/collections/kawasaki-ninja-650-2017/products/evotech-bar-end-weights-road-kawasaki-ninja-650-2017

This is what I bought. Apparently no modifications, a collet system for hassle free installation but I'm losing my shit trying to figure it out.

The bar doesn't have the depth to take the whole collet assembly. (Picture 2)

If I ignore the collet and just screw it in (why would they include parts that aren't needed?) then even with the spacer rings, the bar end is loose and wobbly when tightened by hand. (Picture 3)

What am I missing?

First time dropping my bike, so questions up front, story at the end.

  1. After I washed the bike, I rode it around for 10 minutes to dry off before applying chain lube. That ride was normal. 45 minutes after that ride, I started it up again to go home, and the idle revs were really low, barely 1k. I checked again last night and it seemed to be normal again. What could possibly cause that, and would it have had any bearing on why I dropped the bike?
  2. After picking up the bike and getting out of the way of traffic, I noticed a small puddle of greenish fluid on the road roughly where I dropped it. But inspecting the bike, I couldn't see any leaks, I rode it home without issue, and it's been parked overnight and nothing appears to be leaking. What do I need to check to rule out any issues on that front?
  3. Visible damage. Based on the pictures, what should be replaced? What could be repaired/restored?
    1. Fairings
    2. Engine casing
    3. Front fork
    4. Mirror stem
    5. Bar end
    6. Clutch lever
    7. Gear shifter
    8. Foot pegs
  4. The clutch lever also appears to have rotated around the handlebar downwards - i.e. the clutch lever is lower than than brake lever. Is the fix as simple as loosening the bolts, moving it back up, and tightening again to reposition it?
  5. Most important question: what else should I be looking for and checking, to make sure there's no hidden issues that I've missed?

Now, the story.

I've been meaning to install crash protectors and engine covers for a while, couldn't find anyone willing to do it for me so I bought a torque wrench and decided to do it myself.

Bike desperately needed a clean first, and I needed some extra tools, so I went over to my parents house to wash it and grab tools while I was there.

Riding my normal ride home afterwards, pulled up to the back of queue of traffic, and a few seconds later I'm on the floor with one foot pinned under the bike. It happened in slow-motion, I felt myself lose balance and tried to save it, but just couldn't hold the weight of the bike and ended up underneath it in the middle of the road.

Used my free foot to hit the kill switch, and the driver behind me got out and helped get the bike off me. Thankfully, I was in protective gear, so no injuries.

Honestly, I don't know what happened. I think I hit a false neutral instead of going into first, and combined with the slight camber on the road, I lost balance. The bike was being a little weird though - idle revs were super low at a little over 1k, unsure if that factored into it.

The damage to the bike is more frustrating than anything else. I like keeping my things in really good condition, and now she's got lots of little bits of cosmetic damage that probably aren't worth the cost to replace, but I don't think can be restored either to pristine condition either (happy to be corrected on that!)
