Got the call, first time purchase

Walked into my nearest AD, having never been. My first AD where I had non-Rolex spending history is no longer an AD, so I had to switch and start fresh. The stores have different owners and they don’t share lists of clients etc. Totally unrelated, about a 45 minute drive away.

I was told at other stores that the Land Dweller is scarce, and nobody in my area had even seen any floating around on display.

There were two for display at my visit. I requested to be added to the list for a 36mm everose gold LD.

To make your visit planned, inquire about a timepiece through the website, a schedule and appointment! It may seem obvious, but scheduling appointments rather than walk-ins give the dealer some time to prepare to have what you like displayed if they have one in the vault.

10 days after visiting and meeting my dealer at my appointment, I got the call: Shocked at how early I was called back. I felt like a deer in headlights, unsure if this was the really call back or a follow up question from our conversation. It matters if you have a good relationship with your AD. It’s lucky that I was able to connect naturally and share genuine common interests. They are not only in the market to sell beautiful timepieces, but also in the market for clients they think are excellent long-term brand representatives. From the moment you walk in for your appointment, your interview matters. It should go without saying to treat everyone you meet with respect.

Turns out both of us go on mission trips each year to help those who need it most in Central America, and we talked about our experiences doing that.

I am celebrating a few milestones in life in the next 12 months, but never gave a timeframe, just said this year. I’ll be wearing my new ‘grass toucher’ at my wedding this week! Never thought that would happen.

The 36mm is beautiful in person, and the new fluted bezel is underrated. It’s at its peak when it reflects light. 40mm appeared too big on my wrist and looked less like a beautiful accessory, more of a loud statement you’re trying to show off. 36mm is, in my lowly opinion, effortlessly cool. It looks the part, and it fits and looks as a more natural extension of the forearm and wrist. Class!

Good luck to all!
