New higher-up fired our Executive chef. How do I proceed?

He is a “Culinary Supervisor”, they created a position and put him in it. For the last three years that I’ve worked here, his position didn’t even exist, and we are profitable and have a strong brigade.

About a week ago, he fired her (our Exec Chef who had worked with the company for 10 years). AND THEN he took a week off. Not even bothering to come to our morning huddle the day after firing her to formally tell us and address the situation. We are a large scale scratch kitchen, we also cater events. He comes from Starbucks. He brags about his experience of being a “new Starbucks store opener” and then moving up in the business.

I believe he is planning to destroy the soul of our kitchen and what we do. Just to install his system which takes out the scratch element and brings in more pre-made and packaged foods. Replacing cooks who have worked with the company for multiple years, with temps.

My dilemma is, do I leave this job now that he’s changing it to something that doesn’t align with what I want to do? I’ve already started applying elsewhere. He also told our banquet chef to tell him about any “problem” employees who are being negative about all the changes and the firing of our Chef.

Thoughts?
