My sweet 13 year-old Pumpkin Spice is recovering from having her tail tip amputated.
My poor girl injured the tip of her tail on Tuesday while my husband and I weren’t home and we still have no clue how. She is indoor only and we found no trace of fur or blood anywhere or anything suspicious/amiss in the house that she could have gotten it stuck in. My husband got home from work and found her hiding under the bed already injured, so we took her to the emergency vet that evening and they kept her overnight and amputated the injured part. The surgery went well and she can get the stitches out in another week. Poor thing looks like an opossum now with her shaved tail, but I’m just glad she’s ok. She is the sweetest cat I’ve ever had and she’s been so good with her cone on. I have to help her a little with eating and getting in the litter box, but for the most part she has adapted surprisingly quickly and is her usual cuddly self.
