AIP PR + Restoration situation
Hi everyone,
I’m an ECE working at a YMCA daycare in Nova Scotia under AIP. My employer has been very supportive, but I’m stressed about my current status and wanted to see if anyone has been in a similar situation.
Timeline:
AIP endorsement applied: July 2024
Endorsement approved: August 2024
PR application submitted: September 2024
Application returned (missing original birth certificate)
Resubmitted: December 2024
AOR received: February 2025
In February 2025, I added my spouse through a webform, but IRCC says it’s still only a note on file until an officer reviews it.
My PGWP expired, and I accidentally applied for a BOWP, which was refused because AIP applicants aren’t eligible. I’ve been out of status/work since Feb 14.
I’ve since applied for:
Restoration of status
AIP LMIA-exempt employer-specific work permit
It’s now mid-May and I still haven’t heard anything. My employer still wants to keep me, but I can’t work right now.
I just wanted to ask:
* Has anyone been in a similar AIP situation?
* How long did restoration + LMIA exempt employer specific work permit take?
* Is there anything I can do to speed things up?
* What should I realistically expect from here?
* Should I be worried that my spouse hasn’t officially been attached to the file yet?
