Should I go into Molecular Biology or Microbiology or stay in Biomanufacturing?
Hi guys! I'm an undergrad sophomore and I'm a little conflicted. While Biomanufacturing (my current major) has a mix of molecular bio, microbio, and even biochem, I'm worried I'll get stuck in the manufacturing industry.
I loooove being in the lab with microbes. I did CRISPR once and it just felt right. Even though it's probably not as complicated as the stuff you experts do, it felt so magical and I'm sure I want to do something related to it in the future. I also hope to do something that will allow me to help the environment. I find the concept of waste water treatment interesting. It's kind of cool that we can use microbes to clean up pollution. I've also heard of microbes being modified to eat plastic and oil. That sounds super cool! These are all really broad ideas, but I don't have enough experience to narrow it down.
I would really appreciate any advice you guys could give me. Thanks :)
