Has anyone here had a fistulotomy after previously having a fissurectomy?

I was looking at my notes and texts a day and weeks after fissurectomy and I was quite miserable for several weeks to months really, and a fistulotomy no matter how simple it may be seems to involve a lot more pain.

Can anyone compare?

Since last december when I had an abscess that burst, I keep draining from two spots in my gauze. I was diagnosed with a superficial fistula that did not touch muscles and had a seton placed and removed (I will undergo fistulotomy soon this month or next one) and I was wondering if this means I have two fistulas or is it nothing to be alarmed about?

Like I saw some open a crater in a poor lad's butthole, and then others just a tiny tunnel.

Is it just the difference between a superficial fistula and a more complex one, or just variants of techniques used by surgeons?

I'll probably have a fistulotomy for a superficial subcanteous fistula in early june, I was hoping to go enjoy my summer in early-late august at least.

Or am I being too naive?

I had seton placement 15 weeks ago, and had it removed 4 weeks ago with the hope of natural healing, unfortunately it didn't.

Surgeon is giving it another 1-2 weeks to see if it'll heal else I will have a fistulotomy(and he sounded a lot more serious about it being a more difficult surgery).

Can someone give me some friendly tips? (last time I had a simple/superficial/subcanteous fistula that only goes thru skin) According to a acquaintance who had one done at the same surgeon the first day is hell (but he had a complex fistula with two branches).

How to keep it clean? Is cleaning it with a shower-head enough?
