Members of the Irish Army Cavalry Corps participated in the Sullivan Cup in the US, designed to test US Army and international tank and ifv crews in 2 separate contests, with the specific platforms being the M1 Abrams tank, and the Bradley IFV. Irish personnel were given a US Bradley IFV to operate for the competition, a platform that Ireland doesn't operate - with Ireland not operating tracked IFVs of any kind. The Irish crew came first out of the 7 crews competing in the Bradley contest against 6 US Army crews with experience on the Bradley platform, despite having never operated the platform before. The only other international crews to compete were the UK and Poland, both competing in the tank class.
